Why do dogs howl?

I thought of this because two of our teeniest dogs at daycare were harmonizing this evening. Which brings me to another question -- why do big dogs howl more often than small dogs?

It's obviously a social activity, as once one starts up, another one or two will join in. Or sometimes six or seven will be howling at once, and the whole daycare seems to quiet down to listen to them. But what motivates the first dog to start howling? (Other than, say, "howling" along with sirens going by.) Is it just an intrinsically rewarding behavior, or does it have some other function?

Because an article was written about the next reboot Star Trek movie in which it was teased that we internet fans love "photoshopping cats into humorous situations...". Well, he was right. So here you go, a bunch of lolcats with trek captions. (Remember bunnytrek? It's kinda like that)

An avid fan of dog walking, Sienna Miller was spotted out and about in New York City taking her pooch for a stroll today (November 10).

The “Hippie Hippie Shake” actress looked urban hip as she led her pup pal around the neighborhood, sporting a white top with dark wash jeans and black heels.

You can dislike her if you want but you can't deny she is utterly beautiful. The pictures of her hair in her face. Drooooooool.

Now that we're almost clear of the bye weeks (come on Texans and Giants, quit procrastinating), but unfortunately lose another evening to NFL football (you know, it's not like the Office is any good this season anyhow), it's time to look at the games we want to see, the games that we'll sit through and the games that will make us go clean a closet.

I set the DVR to record the WSOP Final Table, but they apparently decided to play games with the timeslot and not tell anybody. By the time 2 Hours hit, they were still three-handed. Thanks so much.

November Nine Idea = FAIL

As previously reported, Marla Sokoloff and Alec Puro tied the knot on November 8.

The actress tweeted at 11:54 am on Nov. 7, “Getting married tomorrow, holy crap,” but by the next day the jitters of marrying her drummer husband were long gone.

I wondered what happened to her. One of the great forgotten sets of Hollywood breasts. Mmmm mmm mmmm.
